About Me
Hi! I’m Susan Weir, an English language coach and former art educator who believes that beautiful work deserves beautiful language and too many talented professionals doubt their English.
With a background in Fine Art and over 25 years’ teaching experience, I now specialise in helping visual creatives—designers, artists, and makers—use English with clarity, creativity, and confidence. I live and work from a historic weavers’ cottage in Scotland, where I’ve spent five years slowly transforming a 109-metre wild garden into a series of 7 connected small garden spaces.
My work, like my garden, is about thoughtful design, meaningful language, and letting things grow in their own time.

Why I Created English Coaching for Art & Design Professionals
I started this coaching practice because I saw a clear gap: the language of Art and Design is almost never taught to English language learners, despite its importance to so many creative careers.
General, Business, or Exam English courses don’t cover it. It’s too niche.
Over the years, I’ve worked with many talented international artists and designers in my online classes. Often, they spoke fluent English and could participate easily in everyday or professional conversations, but struggled to talk about their own creative work.
So I decided to change that.
This is ESP—English for Specific Purposes, tailored to Art and Design.
